My first post on Substack, and "today I learned"
Just starting always seems to be the hardest part
For the one person who will ever read this, thanks for stopping by! I decided to take another shot at blogging as I’ve always liked writing, and I think I sometimes have something interesting to say :) Trying it out on here as maintaining my own blog (with a whopping 3 posts!) added just enough friction to block me from writing (think having to fix Jekyll build errors after not opening the project for months).
Starting is usually the hardest part, and my tendency to want to make everything perfect in one go doesn’t help. Instead, I’ve learned that starting with something small and improving on that is usually a better way to go (something I’m planning to make a post about!). So here we are!
One interesting idea I’ve come across is today I learned (TIL) blogging, in which posts are just about small things that you learn on a daily basis. This seems like a simple way get the ball rolling with writing, and I do feel that the things I learn in my day-to-day work might be useful for others!
I’m a software engineer at a startup by day, so these things will probably be about random things I learn about software, but who knows where it’ll go! My first TIL post, for example, will be about how I got the Mozilla TTS library running on my M2 chip, so stay tuned ;)
Thanks for reading, and hope to see you somewhere in this space!
To start and make small TIL posts seems like a great plan to publish more writing. I am curious why it's a challenge to run Mozilla TTS specifically on a M2 chip. I want to read it! Please post 😄
